About Us

The Nurseries are primarily for children of NHS employees, but Amersham has some places for the local community.  The Nurseries are Ofsted registered under the Children Act 1989. Each Nursery provides good quality childcare for children aged from 3 months to school age. The Trust also have a partnership with St Mary’s C of E School in Old Amersham to run an ‘Out of School Club’ for breakfast, after school and holiday care.  The Nurseries are open Monday to Friday, 7:15 am to 6:00 pm all year round, except Bank Holidays and staff training days.

The Nurseries are registered to receive “funding entitlement” (FE) from Bucks Council Early Years Department (BC) for children in the term after their third birthday. The funded hours are between 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Most of the staff are trained in childcare and many have been in the team for several years.  We actively encourage staff to further their professional development and have supported staff through their training. The staff working at the Nurseries have all undergone a thorough recruitment process, including a DBS clearance and first aid training.

Our ethos is ‘Play is learning for life’ and our aim is to provide good quality childcare in a clean, safe and secure environment, where the children are respected and encouraged to develop their full potential at their own pace. The Nurseries are divided into small areas and children are grouped together according to age and stage of development.  The rooms are equipped and decorated to provide the children with bright and cheerful surroundings and each room has between two and three staff members who work closely together as a team, providing for all of the children’s needs under the guidance of a senior member of staff.

All new children, before officially starting at the Nursery, complete a programme of introductory visits to help the family settle in.

The children are encouraged to be aware of healthy eating and are provided with a mid-morning snack, a cooked lunch and an afternoon snack. Drinks of water and milk are available for the children throughout the day. Staff sit with the children at mealtimes to encourage them to try new foods, promote good table manners and ensure their safety.

All dietary requirements are catered for.

Everything! Such a nurturing environment, staff appear very mature, friendly and have clearly built positive relationships with I. We love getting I’s “learning journal” every week to hear about what she has been doing and enjoying at nursery.

Children are happy and feel safe in this close-knit family-oriented nursery.  They get all the cuddles they need from attentive staff, who know them so well.

Staff have worked incredibly hard during the Covid-19 pandemic.  The nursery remained open throughout all lockdowns and parents comment on the dedicated staff team at particularly challenging times.

Children are well mannered and polite.  Staff are good role models for children.
